As the homeland of Chinese wolfberry, Ningxia also carries profound Western Xia culture. It is a fantastic cycling destination, offering riders a perfect mix of grand natural scenery and ancient frontier history.
This 9-day Ningxia Yellow River Cycling Tour follows the Yellow River. Riders will cycle through the Helan Mountains, fertile Ningxia Plain, the homeland of Chinese wolfberry, Shapotou and the Tengger Desert. Witness the magnificent northwest landscape where the great river meets desert, and visit Western Xia ancient tombs plus Zhenbeibu Film Studio. The trip combines challenging long-distance riding with in-depth cultural immersion in Northwest China.

Daily riding distances range from 60 km to 100 km. Most routes run across flat Ningxia Plain and gentle riverside roads, with occasional rolling slopes. Riders need good endurance for long hours in open, exposed terrain, where strong wind is common in the desert and riverside areas.
We recommend participants have regular long-distance cycling experience and decent physical fitness. Support vehicles will follow the group throughout the journey for safety and rest.

The ideal months for this Ningxia Yellow River cycling tour are April–June and September–October. During these periods, the weather is mild and pleasant, avoiding the intense summer heat and freezing winter cold. We carefully select comfortable local hotels and boutique inns for this tour, with daily breakfast included. All rooms are private twin or double occupancy. A single supplement applies if you prefer your own private room. Some properties offer laundry machines. Hotel upgrades are available upon request at an additional cost.
It depends on the group's pace. We schedule regular rest stops every 60–90 minutes for water, snacks and electrolyte drinks, typically after long steep climbs or before extended downhill sections. We also include longer lunch breaks.
Yes, non-riding guests can join the tour. They travel in the support vehicle and share the same accommodation and meals. A separate non-rider rate applies.
Yes, the support vehicle is equipped with a well-stocked first-aid kit. Our guides are trained in basic first aid.
Our support vehicle is on hand. You may hop into the support car and continue with the group to the next stop with no penalty.
We do not include travel insurance in the package. We strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel and cycling insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation and trip cancellation before departure
Our support team carries spare parts and tools. Minor repairs will be done on site. If the bike cannot be fixed, we will provide a replacement bike.
Safety is our top priority. In the event of severe weather, we may adjust the route, shorten the riding distance, or re-plan the ride day within your travel window. Any resulting cost changes will depend on the specific arrangements and could be higher or lower.
