Immerse in the unique cultures of the region, from the timeless riverside life along the Li River to the coastal traditions of the Jing ethnic minority at Wanwei Golden Beach. The journey crescendos in Beihai, where the celebration of a completed adventure is perfectly paired with fresh oysters and a stunning Silver Beach sunset, offering a true taste of coastal living.
Chapter 3: The Rhythm of Discovery
Designed for riders who seek both iconic views and the road less traveled, the tour balances iconic sightseeing with immersive exploration. Days begin with invigorating rides through ever-changing landscapes—from river valleys and karst towers to coastal plains. They are interspersed with immersive experiences like hiking the most picturesque section of the Li River and visiting symbolic landmarks like the “Kilometer Zero” stele. With seamless logistics, including vehicle transfers for longer stretches and comfortable accommodations, you can focus entirely on the experience. The tour concludes with a profound sense of achievement, having traversed the very essence of Guangxi’s natural and cultural splendor.
Starting from Guilin, we ride south along the Li River. The iconic karst landscapes line both banks, complemented by blooming rapeseed flowers and orange groves—where delicate beauty meets grandeur. The saying "Guilin’s scenery is peerless under heaven" truly comes to life here. Today is the first cycling day, moderate in difficulty but stunning in views. Xingping Ancient Town and Yangshuo’s Yulong River offer serene, tranquil beauty, a perfect reward for the day’s efforts.
Hiking route: Yangdi – Nine Horses Mural Hill – Lengfeng Ferry – Xingping Ancient Town. The stretch from Yangdi to Xingping represents the essence of the Li River and Yangshuo’s landscapes, best experienced on foot. We’ll follow the most classic route, covering all the highlights—no special gear needed, just comfortable walking shoes. While you strike a pose, our photographer will capture your best moments at the prime viewpoints. After the hike, we’ll travel by vehicle to Mashan County.
After breakfast, we’ll take on the classic Longla climb—a segment of the Tour of Guangxi with gradients up to 15%. "Longla" means "village beneath the mountains" in Zhuang language. Shrouded in mist and fresh air, it’s a challenging yet beloved stretch for cycling enthusiasts. In the afternoon, we ride to Wuming, known as the "Home of China’s Oranges." The hills are covered with orange trees laden with golden fruit—a breathtaking sight. In the evening, we’ll travel 30 km by vehicle to Nanning City.
We depart early by vehicle to the Mountain-Sea Junction Square in Dongxing, where China’s National Border Highway (New G219) and Coastal Highway (New G228) meet. Here stands the Qing Dynasty Boundary Marker No. 1 and the "Kilometer Zero" point of Guangxi’s border highway—a symbolic start and end for many long-distance travelers. From here, we begin our golden coastal ride. After peaceful village roads, we reach Wanwei Golden Beach, home to the Jing ethnic minority and famed for its golden sunset glow. We’ll continue riding along the coastal highway of the Baisha Peninsula, breezing through the Beibu Gulf winds all the way to Fangchenggang.
Today’s route passes Sanniang Bay, renowned as the "Hometown of Chinese White Dolphins." We’ll avoid busy highways and instead wind through eucalyptus forests, enjoying a relaxed ride amid rural scenery. Upon reaching Beihai, we’ll visit Silver Beach. As the sun sets, we’ll toast with drinks and fresh oysters, celebrating the successful completion of a memorable journey.
It’s time to bid farewell to Beihai’s oyster-filled delights. The tour leader will accompany the group to the airport for departure.
The total cycling distance is approximately 356 kilometers, completed over 4 riding days, with daily distances ranging from 65 to 100 kilometers.
