Discover the Heart of Guangxi on Two Wheels
Chapter 1: From Green City to Border Poetry
This journey begins in the tranquil “Green City” of Nanning, where you’ll stroll along the Yong River before heading west by bike. Over the following days, you’ll ride through the dreamy landscapes of Jingxi, pedal along the national scenic corridor amid misty peaks and winding rivers, and drift on a bamboo raft down the serene Mingshi River. In Jiuzhou Ancient Town, you’ll also encounter the traditional Zhuang embroidered ball—a vibrant cultural symbol. The first half of the tour blends gentle cycling, cultural discovery, and moments of pure natural immersion.
Chapter 2: Historic Frontiers & Where Mountains Meet the Sea
The journey then leads to Dongxing, a vibrant border city. Here, you’ll stand before the majestic National Gate, examine Qing Dynasty boundary stones, and enjoy the rare “one glance, two countries” vista. As you continue riding toward the coast, you’ll reach the symbolic Mountain-Sea Junction Landmark Plaza—where China’s coastline and land border converge. This chapter weaves together historical exploration and geographic wonder, tracing the transition from inland culture to coastal openness.
Chapter 3: Coastal Magic & Island Freedom
The final leg brings you to the sparkling coast. At Sanniang Bay, you may encounter playful Chinese white dolphins dancing in the golden sunset waters. The cycling adventure concludes in Beihai, where an optional free day offers the chance to explore Weizhou Island—a volcanic paradise of clear waters, coral reefs, and colorful marine life. This last chapter holds the gentle rhythm of the sea, unforgettable wildlife moments, and the freedom to wander an island dream.
Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is known as the "Green City." Qingxiu Mountain, located within the city, is one of its most famous attractions. The Yong River flows through Nanning, and strolling along its banks offers a truly relaxing experience.
Jingxi City is situated in the southwestern border of western Guangxi, with a border stretching 152.5 km. Here, you’ll encounter picturesque mountains, clear waters, and ethereal misty landscapes. Cycling along the Guangxi Border-Sea National Scenic Route (Jingxi section) allows you to immerse yourself in nature, culture, and history while enjoying the gentle breeze and poetic scenery.
Jiuzhou Ancient Town in Jingxi, often called the "Land of Embroidered Balls," is nestled amidst stunning landscapes. The ancient street runs alongside the river, and the traditional Zhuang embroidered ball—a symbol of love, luck, happiness, and beauty—is a cultural treasure of the Zhuang people.
The mountains bring peace, the rivers bring calm. The clear Mingshi River meanders through the countryside. Drifting on a bamboo raft, feeling the breeze and listening to the birds, it’s like entering a hidden paradise. The pastoral landscape is captivating, with vibrant green fields contrasting against distant hills and nearby rivers, creating a picturesque rural scene. Ancient waterwheels turn slowly, whispering tales of the past.
Most visitors to Fangchenggang make their way to Dongxing, and no trip to Dongxing is complete without visiting the National Gate. Locals say, "You haven’t truly visited Dongxing if you haven’t been to the National Gate." The grand Border Inspection Building, also known as the National Gate, stands majestically, inspiring a sense of pride.
The Mountain-Sea Junction Landmark Plaza marks the convergence of China’s mainland coastline and its land border. The central sculpture, intertwined in red and blue, resembles entwined ribbons or clasped hands—red symbolizing the mountains, blue representing the sea, signifying the unity of land and sea.
Sanniang Bay, known as the "Hometown of Chinese White Dolphins," sparkles under the sun with seagulls circling, fishing boats swaying, and playful dolphins dancing in the waves. Watching the sunset over the sea and encountering these gentle creatures is a truly fortunate experience.
On the final day of the trip, we recommend a free-and-easy exploration. Take a boat to Weizhou Island, renowned as one of "China’s Most Beautiful Islands." The island’s unique volcanic landscape, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs await. Dive into the underwater world and swim alongside colorful tropical fish for an unforgettable adventure.
